Field visit to NEIKER ecological crops

As part of the Ecological Production Enhancement Plan (FOPE) driven by the Basque government, the Basque Department of Economic Development and Infrastructure and NEIKER are organising a field trip to take a look at NEIKER’s ecological crop testing in Arkaute. There, visitors will learn about how fall crops are tested and developed, the results of previous tests and the proposals for summer crop testing in the 2020-2021 campaign.

PROGRAMME

Brief presentation of fall-winter testing being done during the 2020-2021 campaign:

• Spring wheat: Genvce eco variety testing
• Broad beans: harvest demonstration
• Oats for oatmeal: harvest demonstration
• Fodder grass: fertilisation test presentation

Presentation of the results of the 2019-2020 campaign:

• Winter and spring wheat: variety assessment
• Spring wheat: fertilisation
• Local wheat varieties: covered smut and behaviour

Summer crop experiences

• Use of paper padding
• Fertiliser for vegetables
• Maize experience
