AGENDA NOVEMBER 26: ONE HEALTH Conference | Animal health as a pillar of the One Health strategy

In recent years, the One Health concept has established itself as the benchmark framework for addressing the major health challenges of our time. The interconnection between human, animal, and ecosystem health has shown that issues as diverse as emerging zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance, the effects of global change, or biodiversity loss can only be understood and tackled from an integrated perspective.
Many of the challenges driving the development of One Health originate, or find a fundamental part of their solution, in the animal sphere. Surveillance of emerging diseases, zoonosis control, risk prevention associated with wildlife and vectors, responsible management of antimicrobials, or the development of new immunological and vaccine tools are just a few examples of areas where veterinary medicine plays an essential role.
This conference aims to reflect on this question and highlight the contribution of veterinary science to global health. Through the insights of leading experts and concrete examples of research and health surveillance, we will explore how animal health is not only a cornerstone of One Health, but an indispensable element for anticipating risks, protecting people, and preserving the sustainability of our production systems and ecosystems.
