AGENDA 27 MAY: open day on how to reduce the carbon footprint of sheep flocks

29 April 2025

27 MAY 2025

11:30 AM – 15:00 PM

NEIKER’s centre in Arkaute

The flock of Latxa breed sheep that NEIKER has on the Arkaute Campus participates as an innovative flock in the LIFE GREEN SHEEP project. Within the framework of the project, we have designed a Low Carbon Action Plan to mitigate the environmental impact and improve sustainability. Specifically, the aim is to reduce the carbon footprint by more than 12%, as well as to improve other environmental aspects such as soil health and fertility, grass production, etc.

With the aim of sharing our experience, we have organised this open day specially aimed at livestock farmers, advisory staff and agents of the Latxa breed sheep sector.

During the visit, we will present the flock, the facilities and the main equipment available to measure enteric methane emissions, as well as the innovative management practices we are applying to achieve our objective.
