The new paradigm of the European Green Pact applied to all economic sectors, and the social pressure for local, quality livestock production that respects the environment and animal welfare means that the different livestock sectors have to face up to the challenge of working on the concept of environmental, social and economic sustainability. In this sense, BASATXERRI, EUSKABER and LUMAGORRI, organisations representing the semi-extensive pork, egg and chicken meat production model, feel the need to start working on sustainability indicators, with a view to possible future certification in environmental product declaration.
