The World Health Organisation (WHO) has set the alarm bells ringing on the serious problem represented for human health by the rise in resistance to antibiotics, warning that the solution lies in the introduction of multidisciplinary approaches.
From NEIKER we will focus on rationalising phytosanitary product use in agriculture and medicines related to livestock breeding and, more specifically, on reducing antibiotic use as much as possible.
We will therefore work to find alternatives that guarantee the full competitiveness of production systems.
In agriculture, we will define new handling guidelines based on the reduction of phytosanitary products, thereby increasing farm profitability and obtaining positive results in environmental terms. In livestock, we will focus on preventing infections and their propagation, on their surveillance and monitoring, and on rational antibiotic use.
