We invite you to get to know some of the main milestones and contributions to the agri-food and forestry sector that NEIKER has made in the last 25 years: the inauguration of the NBS3 laboratory; the detection of the first case of avian influenza in the Basque Country; the obtaining of plant varieties adapted to the needs of companies, such as the Zorba potato, used by McDonald’s in its European restaurants; the launch of the WELFAIR™ seal, the first animal welfare certificate based on the observation and evaluation of animals and their behaviour or NEIKER’s contribution to the European Commission declaring the Basque Country a region free of this disease, after decades of continuous effort between administrations and agents in the sector.
