- End of the project: 05/31/2028
- Principal researcher: Gorka Landeras
- Financing: EU
- Program: INTERREG SUDOE
- Call: 2nd Call 2021-27
- Reference: S2/2.5/E0145
- Acronym: e-Rigation
- Total budget: 1,155,564.52 euros
- Partners: ACMG, IMIDA, EUSKALMET, IPB, CDA24, CDA64, CIM-DOURO and CIM-VISAU
General objective
e-Rigation Sudoe will develop and test a network of individual meteorological stations that will reduce the impact of agricultural activities on the water system of the Sudoe area and promote adaptation to a context of increasing water scarcity. A training program for producers and awareness-raising among water resource managers will also be implemented.
Specific Objectives
- Development of a virtual station system that provides, in an operational manner, various meteorological and climate-based indicators at the plot level in different Sudoe areas, for subsequent integration into existing irrigation management systems.
- Implementation and operational maintenance of various systems that enable the daily flow of information on various indicators at the plot level and evaluation of improvements to irrigation monitoring applications in relation to various parameters.
- Training, exchange of experiences, and capacity building for public administrators, managers, and users related to improving the efficiency of irrigation management and the treatment of crop diseases.
Outcomes
- Improve the efficiency of water resource use in agriculture through the development of a system for providing real-time meteorological information (and weather forecasting) through high-performance virtual weather stations. precision.
- e-Rigation Sudoe will develop and test innovative solutions from a scientific and technical perspective to reduce the impact of agricultural activities on the Sudoe water system and to promote adaptation to a context of increasing water scarcity. Likewise, a training program for producers and awareness-raising among water resource managers will be launched.
