NEIKER will host in Bilbao the national and international congress of the SEOC

  • A meeting point for the sheep and goat sector, the event will bring together more than 300 professionals from October 1 to 3 in Bilbao, Basque Country.

 

From October 1 to 3, 2025, Bilbao will become the meeting point for professionals in the sheep and goat sector with the celebration of the XLVIII National and XXIV International Congress of the Spanish Society of Sheep and Goat Technology (SEOC). This annual event is organized by NEIKER, the technology center member of the Basque Research & Technology Alliance (BRTA).

SEOC is a non-profit association founded in 1975 that brings together sheep and goat production professionals. Its main mission is to promote research, exchange knowledge and disseminate scientific advances in the sector. Over the years, its scientific conferences have become a national and international reference, attracting more than 300 congress participants who present more than 150 communications, which demonstrates its relevance and the quality of its content. In addition, the SEOC contributes to the training of the sector through high-level seminars and courses and publishes the specialized magazine “TIERRAS Ovino y Caprino”.

 

Congress program

This year’s congress in Bilbao will feature a varied program that will address the latest developments and challenges in the sector. On Wednesday, October 1, the opening day will include a workshop on the role of the clinical veterinarian in diagnostics. On Thursday, October 2, there will be presentations on animal health, milking technology and veterinary pharmacovigilance, as well as a round table on the bluetongue situation. The last day, Friday 3, will be dedicated to oral communication sessions, a round table on the coexistence between livestock and wildlife, and presentations on health and risks of interaction with wildlife. The congress will conclude in the evening with a closing ceremony and dinner.

NEIKER invites all professionals, researchers and students interested in the sector to participate in this key event to share experiences and contribute to the advancement of sheep and goat farming.
