BIO-inspired solutions from BIO-natural masses and BIO-microbial control agents for the mitigation of conflicting inputs in organic agriculture.
- Project start: 05/01/2025
- End of the project: 04/30/2029
- Principal researcher: Miriam Pinto
- Financing: EU
- Programme: Horizon Europe
- Total consortium budget: €857,861.25
- Partners: NBIO, CNR, NOFIMa,
General objective:
BIO2 aims to address the limitations of organic farming (OF) by replacing or reducing the use of problematic inputs through the development, testing, and scaling-up of biological agronomic products derived from renewable biomass sources, such as fish side-streams, microorganisms, macroalgae, and plant extracts.
Specific objectives:
- Development of new immunostimulant formulations and novel molecules to replace antibiotics. 2) Verification of the immunogenic efficacy and microbiome changes conferred by the selected prototypes.
- Agronomic testing of biostimulants and biofertilizers. Environmental impact.
- Development of new pesticides; study of their effects at the laboratory scale.
