TRAYECTORIA

Aitor González is a technology intern who belongs to the Soil Microbial Ecology Group, where he studies the impact of organic amendments on the dissemination of antibiotic resistance genes, under the supervision of Dr Carlos Garbisu. |He has a degree in Biology (University of the Basque Country, 2015) and a Master's degree in Microbiology and Health (University of the Basque Country, 2016). |He has two years' experience in the Microbial Ecology Laboratory of the University of the Basque Country, where he carried out his degree and master's final project on the presence of pathogenic microorganisms of the genus Vibrio on the Biscayan coast and their ability to adapt to different environmental conditions. Later, he extended his experience in the identification of pathogens using analytical techniques and the determination of their resistance to antimicrobials after a six-month stay in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory of Basurto University Hospital. |At Neiker, he has studied the impact of lead on soil and its involvement in the microbial community's tolerance to the contaminant. He is currently working on the line of research related to the risk to human health associated with the use of organic amendments of animal origin in agriculture.
