Since 2015, NEIKER has visited the collections of the Provincial Councils ( Otalarrea in Gipuzkoa and Zalla in Bizkaia), plus twelve farms in Gipuzkoa and nine in Bizkaia.
After the genetic characterization, 19 local varieties have been recognized by the Register of Conservation Varieties, which would allow their commercialization and local production. The varieties are Gazi Gorri , Goikoetxea, Manttoni , Moko , Mozolua , Txalaka , Urtebete , Urtebete Handi , Urtebete Txiki, Bost-Kantoia , Errezila , Geza-Mina, Haritza , Mendiola, Merabi , Mikatza , Patzolua , Saltxipi , Urdin and Verde Agria.
