A germplasm bank is a place where the appropriate conditions are enabled to conserve seeds of different plant species (wild or cultivated) in such a way as to guarantee the preservation of the genetic diversity of plants.

Its characterization and evaluation makes it of great interest to use it in genetic improvement programs to develop new varieties that are better adapted and have good characteristics.
