VARIETY REQUESTS

The NEIKER-BRTA germplasm bank accepts requests for seed from public and private research centres, as well as from individuals, depending on the availability of stock in the bank.

To request material, please send an e-mail to jiruiz@neiker.eus or info@neiker.eus with the following information:

Person and institution requesting the material
Purpose for which it is requested
Mailing address
Code or name of entries requested
Comments you would like to make

In general, 15-20 seeds will be sent depending on availability and species. It is recommended that individual applicants multiply seeds from the requested entries in case of need for future use. In the case of potato, about 10 tubers or, where appropriate, 2 in vitro seedlings of each requested entry shall be sent.

In accordance with the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits from the use of plant genetic resources, the applicant entities will have to fill in and sign the document concerning the mutually agreed terms of material transfer (MTA) through the following link: https://mls.planttreaty.org/itt/index.php

Once the agreement has been processed, the applicant will receive a copy and the requested seeds will be sent by post. The recipient of this material explicitly undertakes not to pass on the material received, or any part of it, to another person or institution, and not to use it for any purpose other than that stated in the request.

Requests from individuals (applicant with no links to an institution or company) whose purpose does not involve the use of the resource for research or commercial purposes should not complete the Material Transfer Agreement.
