PhD.LorenaCarro García
Researcher - Conservation of Natural Resources

Dr. Carro is an expert in beneficial plant-microorganism interactions and the application of new production systems based on beneficial bacteria that improve plant development and protect against pathogens in a sustainable way. | Microbiologist specializing in Actinobacteria, she has focused a large part of her career on the study and application of this type of microorganisms for plant development, having developed in-depth analysis of the interaction of Micromonospora and Frankia genera strains with legumes and actinorhizal plants. The molecular and genomic study of these systems has allowed her to elucidate part of the molecules involved in the symbiotic process, including some antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). | Currently, her work is focused on improving the tolerance of plants to stress conditions through the application of microorganisms that promote plant growth (PGPB), including adaptation to desiccation and other problems derived from climate change, as well as tolerance to contaminated soils (i.e. heavy metals).
